Bucket and SandHoliday at Home       Bucket and Sand

Our Seaside @Home in August was a great success and good fun. Over the 2 days we had 92 guests attend from our local area and we were blessed with an excellent team of 35 helpers. We had decorated the church to look like the seaside with shells, sand and sea gulls. We had a variety of activities such as craft, flower arranging, carpet bowls, reminiscing, nail pamper and quizzes. Many were happy just to be out and chatting to friends.

We had a ‘Thought for the Day’, a sing a long and our hymns of praise. Steve Erickson entertained us on Friday with his singing and stayed longer than booked which was great. Some of the highlights were seeing residents from Honeyfield Residential home dancing and singing along with the songs with such joy on their faces; Olivia and Amy Willard entertaining us with songs learnt from their school; the smiles, laughter and fun of all our guests.

The meals on both days were much appreciated, the take away ‘Fish ‘n’ Chips’ on Thursday were a great success. Those who cooked the ‘Pie and Mash’ on Friday did a marvellous job.

One lady said afterwards that she had really felt as if she had been on holiday. For those who are unable to get away even for a day we achieved our aim to give them a ‘Holiday at Home.’
To quote one ‘thank you card’
“ For all the helpers whose devotion, dedication and care joined heaven to earth for us. Thanks you for a special time.”

It was a very successful two days and just pray that everyone who came felt God’s presence and his love for them as we demonstrated it in a very practical way.

We want to say a huge thank you to all those who have helped in whatever way. We couldn’t have done it without you.
