... at the heart of our community

Building Development

This is an exciting time in our church's life as we move ambitiously, in faith, to renew and enlarge our facilities.

Our key driver is to be able to serve our local community, but in order to do this effectively we need to sensitively refurbish and expand our current building, part of which dates back to 1905.  The journey has so far, necessarily been lengthy and detailed - some of the key milestones are ...

  1. Oct 2004 - A detailed Option Study was commissioned to examine the local community, demographics, organisations, needs and facilities, and how as a church we could help address any identified shortfalls.  It simultaneously looked at our own buildings and the possible options to improvement facilities.
  2. Apr 2005 - The Study is completed and delivered by our Consultants.
  3. Feb 2007 - After much lengthy consideration and debate - including a weekend retreat - a decision on the best way forward is agreed by the PCC (Parochial Church Council).
  4. May 2007 - A week of "open days" are provided to allow the plans to be viewed by all interested parties.
  5. Sep 2007 - Our incumbent moves out to take on a new job.  The project is temporarily placed on hold.
  6. Feb 2009 - With a new incumbent in place, the project is re-energised
  7. Dec 2011 - Numerous iterations of the plans have taken place, and a series of presentations are now being made to interested parties (eg. Hextable Residents Association, Hextable Parish Council).  A phasing plan has also been agreed. Planning application submitted to Sevenoaks District Council.
  8. Apr 2012 - The planning application as submitted has been refused by Sevenoaks District Council. The Development committe will meet to consider the best way forward from this decision.
